Insurance
Insurance policies sit on the Insurance page and on each property they cover. The usual way to add one is to scan the documents; you can also type the details.
1. Where policies live
Open Insurance in the sidebar for every policy, or the Insurance tab on a property for the ones that cover it.
In the app
- Insurance
- Properties
- Open the property
- Insurance
- This is separate from the Certificates tab, which is for gas, electrical, and similar safety records.
2. Scan the documents
Choose Upload insurance documents when you add or renew a policy. Rent Logger reads the files and fills a review form.
In the app
- Insurance
- Add policy
- Upload insurance documents
- Drop PDF, JPEG, or PNG files, up to 15 MB each. An insurance schedule is the most useful document. You can add more than one file and set each file’s type.
- After extraction, open Review extracted policy. Check the dates, insurer, cover, and matched properties, then Create policy or Renew policy.
- If an address did not match, fix Insured properties on the review screen before you confirm. You can also open Document Scan Summary from Insurance to continue an upload that is still in progress.
3. Enter manually
Choose Enter manually if you prefer to type the policy, or to complete details the scan did not pick up.
- Required: cover start, expiry, a short policy name, policy number, insurer, and named insured. Choose the blocks and properties the policy covers, and tick the cover types that apply.
- Upload a schedule if you have one. Broker contacts, premium, and per-property sums insured are optional.
4. Blocks and HMOs
Choosing a block applies cover to every property in that block. On an HMO, rooms share the primary room’s policies — set the policy once for the HMO.
