HMO and rental licences
Record rental licences on the property, including Mandatory HMO, Additional, and Selective licences. A PDF on the licence is what tenants see in the portal. See Tenant portal.
1. When a licence is needed
Open Edit property and answer Does this property require a rental licence? with Yes. The Licences tab appears after you save.
In the app
- Properties
- Open the property
- Edit property
- On an HMO the button is Edit Room/Property, and the question is Does this HMO require a rental licence?.
2. Add a licence
Add Licence opens a form for the current or next licence.
In the app
- Licences
- Add Licence
- The tab includes short definitions of Mandatory HMO, Additional, and Selective licences. Choose the type that matches the scheme for that property.
- Enter licence type, licence holder, valid from, expiry, issuing authority, and licence reference. Valid from can fill expiry as five years minus one day — change it if the licence is shorter.
- Upload the Licence PDF on the same form. You can also record maximum households and individuals.
- You can add a further licence in the last three months before the current valid one expires. Older licences stay in history.
3. One licence for the HMO
One licence covers the whole HMO. It is stored on the primary room and shown on every room. Set and upload it once.
